    Now is the time.

    Let the adventure begin!

    Welcome

You've probably spent years trying to think your way into healing.

What if healing asks something different?

You may know your story. You may have read the books, listened to the podcasts, or spent years trying to understand yourself. Insight is valuable, but insight alone rarely changes a life. Lasting transformation comes from developing a deeper relationship with yourself. Healing isn't only when knowledge reaches the mind. It's when wisdom reaches the bones.

    That's the work I love.

I work with people who are genuinely curious about themselves and ready to engage in meaningful change. My approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a model that invites us to meet every part of ourselves with curiosity instead of judgment, creating space for our deeper wisdom, compassion, and clarity to lead.

I believe in this work because I live it. I don't offer a path I've mastered - I offer a path I'm committed to walking myself. I bring my full presence, deep curiosity, and years of experience. I ask my clients to bring a willingness to be honest, engaged, and open to practicing what they learn, because meaningful transformation is built through practice, not insight alone.

This work isn't about becoming someone different.

It's about becoming more fully yourself.

I don't believe lasting change happens because someone gives you better advice. I believe it happens because your relationship with yourself begins to change. My role isn't to fix you or carry you there. It's to walk beside you as you discover the person who has been beneath the protective strategies all along.

If that way of working resonates with you, I know we'll do meaningful work together.

Welcome—I look forward to getting to know you!

    Why the name, Golden Seams?

The name Golden Seams Counseling is inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi - a practice that repairs broken pottery by mending the cracks with gold. Rather than hiding the damage, kintsugi highlights it. The broken places become more visible, more beautiful, and more valuable - because of what they’ve been through, not in spite of it.

This philosophy lies at the heart of how I view healing.

In our lives, we all experience cracks - losses, traumas, transitions, and moments that leave us feeling broken or disconnected. But what if those broken places weren’t something to be ashamed of or pushed away? What if they could become the very source of your strength, beauty, and wholeness?

In therapy, we don’t erase the past, we honor it. We gently explore your pain and your protection, and together we begin the work of healing - not by covering over the cracks, but by understanding them, softening around them, and allowing your true Self to shine through. Like the gold in kintsugi, your compassion, courage, and resilience can fill the fractured spaces with something new - something honest, strong, and deeply human.

Golden Seams Counseling is a place where your story is safe. Where your pain is not a problem to fix, but a part of your becoming. Where healing doesn’t mean returning to who you were before, but becoming more fully who you are.

Because every crack isn’t just a sign of where you’ve been, it’s an opening for who you’re becoming. That’s the heart of Golden Seams.

    Allynn Young, LPC

I work best with clients who are ready to do the work - not because healing is easy or fast, but because they’re willing to turn toward themselves with openness and courage. Therapy isn’t a passive process. You get out of it what you put into it. I can offer a grounded, compassionate space for healing, but I don’t have your answers - you do. My role is to help you create the safety, insight, and connection needed to access your own inner wisdom. You are your own healer, and I’m here to support and guide that process with care, respect, and curiosity.

Nature is also an important part of my own life and how I support others. I believe the outdoors offers a powerful mirror and a grounding presence for inner work. When appropriate, I incorporate elements of nature-based therapy and outdoor experiences into the therapeutic process, inviting clients to reconnect with the natural world as a source of reflection, regulation, and restoration.

If you're looking for a therapist who brings structure, depth, creativity, and sincere respect for your inner wisdom, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

I’ve always been drawn to the work of healing and growth - called by a deep belief in the human capacity to transform, even in the wake of pain. With over a decade of clinical experience, I bring not just training, but lived insight into what it means to face adversity, hold complexity, and still move forward.

I work with adults navigating a wide range of experiences, including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, spiritual exploration, and the deep existential questions around identity, purpose, and meaning. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply unsure of who you are anymore, therapy can offer a space to slow down, listen inward, and begin to move with clarity and intention.

I’m particularly passionate about Internal Family Systems (IFS) - a model that honors the rich, complex inner world we all carry. IFS invites us to meet every part of ourselves with compassion and curiosity, creating space for deep healing and authentic connection to the Self. In addition to one-on-one work, I enjoy facilitating IFS-based groups and retreats, where people can engage in this healing process in community, supported by shared experience and collective insight.

Every person's story is different. Some people come carrying profound trauma. Others come feeling stuck, disconnected, or exhausted by patterns they can't seem to change. The path isn't the same for everyone, but I've seen, again and again, that people are capable of far more healing than they often imagine.  I believe in this work because I've seen what becomes possible when people commit to it. I've witnessed it in my clients, and I continue to experience it in my own life.

I have tremendous respect for our capacity to grow. Again and again, I've seen that when people consistently approach themselves with curiosity instead of judgment, something begins to shift. Relationships deepen. Old patterns loosen their grip. Life becomes less about surviving and more about living.

    EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a mental health treatment that can be thought of as a physiologically based therapy that helps a person see upsetting experiences in a new and less disturbing way.  Distressing life events can overwhelm a person's ability to cope and have a lasting negative effect on mental, emotional, and physical health.  EMDR therapy facilitates change in the meaning of painful events and the cause of presenting symptoms and issues. Clients conclude EMDR therapy feeling transformed and empowered by the very experiences that once brought them pain.

    INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS (IFS)

Internal Family Systems, or IFS, is a powerful, compassionate approach to therapy. It’s based on a simple but profound idea: we are not one single self, but rather a system of “parts” — each with its own voice, feelings, and role. Some parts protect us. Some carry wounds. And beneath them all is your Self — the calm, curious, connected core of who you are.

In IFS therapy, we create space to meet your parts with understanding instead of judgment. You’ll learn to relate to yourself with more clarity and compassion — and that changes everything.
